If Pester 1.1b19 or 1.1b20 hangs, crashes, or otherwise fails to
open
It is likely that you are experiencing a Pester bug related to
your preferred speech voices (customizable in System Preferences
or VoiceOver Utility). Unfortunately, in an attempt to improve
Pester’s support for voices, I did not anticipate all the
possible configurations until after 1.1b19’s original
release.
- If you are using OS X 10.9 or later, please manually update to Pester 1.1b21 or later.
There are no known issues with speech voices in this version.
- If you are using OS X 10.7 or 10.8, try re-downloading Pester 1.1b19 (the
changes are in build 61; you can find the build number in
parentheses after the version in Pester’s About box), which
fixes some, but not all of the voice issues.
- If you are using OS X 10.7 or 10.8, have re-downloaded Pester
1.1b19, and it still fails to open, it is likely you have a
Scottish voice enabled, or your default voice is a
“premium” voice. You can upgrade OS X to 10.9 or
later and use Pester 1.1b21 or later, go back to Pester 1.1b18, or
attempt to change your voice configuration to avoid these
issues.
